Agreeing to these terms
These terms are between you and Metrix Promotions LLC (“we”, “us”), the operator of TrueTrail. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them. You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of the scouts you add. A child may use the app on your account, but the account, the subscription, and this agreement are yours.
What TrueTrail is — and what it is not
TrueTrail is a personal planning aid that helps a Scouts BSA youth track rank progress and see a sensible next step.
- It is not the official advancement record. Your troop's system stays the system of record. Marking something “signed off” here is your family's private note — it does not advance your scout, and it does not replace a leader's actual signature.
- It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America or Scouting America. We refer to ranks, merit badges, and the Eagle Scout award only to describe what the app helps you track.
- Requirement text is our own paraphrase, written to preserve the facts and quantities, alongside a pointer to the official page. For exact wording, and for anything that counts, use the official handbook and your unit leadership. If our paraphrase and the official requirement ever disagree, the official requirement governs.
Your account and scout profiles
One account covers one family. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Scout profiles are a convenience for separating progress, not a security boundary — anyone signed into your account can select any profile on it, which is deliberate for siblings sharing a device.
Your plan includes a set number of scout seats. Creating a profile fills a seat you already paid for; deleting one frees it. You can raise or lower your seat count in Settings, and that is the only thing that changes your price.
Subscription and pricing
- $5.00 per month for the first scout, plus $2.50 per month for each additional scout.
- Some families qualify for a discounted code. The lowest rate we offer is $1.00 per month, which covers a limited number of seats set by the code.
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply. Payment is processed by Stripe under Stripe's own terms.
Your subscription renews automatically each period until you cancel. If you change your seat count mid-period, we adjust the charge for the remainder of that period rather than starting a new one.
We may change prices. If we do, existing subscribers get notice before it takes effect, and you can cancel rather than accept it.
Cancelling, and what happens after
Cancel any time from Settings. Your subscription stays active through the end of the period you already paid for, and then stops. Cancelling never deletes anything. The account becomes read-only: every requirement your scout tracked stays visible, you just cannot edit it or add new progress until you resubscribe.
Because you keep access for the period you bought, we do not automatically refund partial periods. If something went wrong — you were charged in error, or the service did not work — write to us and we will make it right.
Deleting your account is different and permanent: it cancels billing, deletes your login, and erases every scout, all progress, and all logged entries. It cannot be undone.
Discount codes
Codes are offered at our discretion, may be limited in number or time, are not transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. We may deactivate a code that is being misused, but we will not retroactively re-price a subscription that already redeemed one in good faith.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share your login outside your household, or resell access.
- Create profiles for people who are not scouts in your family in order to avoid paying for seats.
- Copy or scrape our requirement text, badge data, or recommendations to build a competing product.
- Attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
Our content
The software, our written requirement paraphrases, the badge dataset, and the design are ours and are licensed to you for personal family use only. Your data is yours — your scouts' names and progress belong to you, and we claim no ownership of them.
“Scouts BSA”, “Eagle Scout”, and related marks belong to their owners. We use them descriptively, not as a claim of affiliation.
Availability
We are a small operation and offer the service “as is”. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to retrieve your data.
Disclaimers and limits
To the fullest extent the law allows, TrueTrail is provided without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for advancement decisions. Whether a requirement is genuinely met is determined by your unit leadership and the official requirements, never by this app.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as permitted.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using TrueTrail at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or that we are legally required to close — in which case we will refund any unused prepaid time unless the breach was fraud or abuse.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts located there.
